Says Slepoy: Unlike my previous albums, where the repertoire was composed on a previous framework of specific concepts and research, this time I compiled compositions of mine from different moments of my life (La ahogada and Fantasmitas composed by Francisco Cossavella). The context of this selection is during the birth of my first child and the pandemic. That's how in the early mornings I was putting together these songs with no pretensions other than playing and researching compositions that would make me connect with my spiritual world. From 6 to 9am in the morning, immersed in intimacy and silence, I filled the tank with music before starting my days and looking for life in a pandemic context without live music.

The chance to record and play again with these amazing artists and friends has definitely taken this music to another level. Francisco Cossavella and Lucas Goicoechea are two musicians with undoubted technical abilities and admirable resumes, but above all, the years that we have been working, researching, sharing, connecting and facing situations with music bring us together. Julia Sanjurjo is an artist that I admire a lot and with whom we had started a duo that was cut due to covid. The compositions that we perform with her address my concerns about the jazz song in terms of form.

The music is not composed from a specific genre. There are some melodies conceived from folk rhythms, but with some alterations that suggest the traditional music of a fanciful place. As if the compositions were a portrait or by a landscape painter who imagines and creates fictitious spaces inspired by real images.

On the other hand, my mates and I have grown up musically studying and playing jazz. Sounds of jazz, Latin American folklore, contemporary music and some others can be found in music, however I seek to continue not with a particular stylistic tradition, but with the tradition of mixing, actively incorporating new resources and stimulating diversity.

As for the stylistics, there is a concept of Darwin that can be left to this music, which is that of "doubtful species": Darwin called doubtful species to those species that cannot be clearly cataloged and that could be copies of multiple lineages, of cross-pollinations that reflect aspects of heredity as characteristic as they are unique in themselves.
